Description

A flavorful burger inspired by Joanna Gaines, topped with Drip Jam and served with homemade fries.


Ingredients

Scale
  • Vegetable oil, for the grill
  • 4 pounds ground beef (80% lean; see Cook’s Note)
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 4 ounces Gruyère cheese, thinly sliced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 8 tablespoons (1 stick) salted butter, melted
  • 6 brioche buns, split
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups Bacon-Tomato Sweet Drip Jam (recipe follows) or
  • 1 to 1 1/2 cups Jalapeño Drip Jam (recipe follows)
  • 6 thick slices vine-ripened tomato
  • 5 cups baby arugula (about 5 ounces

Instructions

1. Prepare Drip Jam by sautéing ingredients until thick and jammy.

2. Shape seasoned beef into patties and grill to desired doneness.

3. Melt cheese on top of patties during last minute of cooking.

4. Brush buns with garlic butter and toast until golden.

5. Soak and double-fry potatoes until crispy and golden brown.

6. Assemble burgers with tomato, burger, Drip Jam, arugula, and bun top.

7. Serve with hot fries on the side.

Notes

Use bacon-tomato version of jam for a smokier flavor.

For crispier fries, soak potatoes in cold water overnight.

Serve burgers family-style on a rustic board with extra jam on the side.
